They had watched
the heavenly dance
throughout long and lonely nights;
serious, methodical, no-nonsense,
categorizing each member
by color, size, and brilliance —
all facts and no fantasies.
Sitting in the assigned seat,
staring at the assigned section,
unmoving. Unmoved.
The stars celebrated,
swirling and sparkling above,
while the observers remained,
grim and silent, below.
Then
one night
a light
brightened
the shadows,
touched
their souls
with delight,
struck
sweet, soft
chords
in their hearts,
and the
Magi
began
to dance.
