Prayer for a Miracle

Like the FedEx man
who rings the bell
and promptly runs away,
I leave this prayer
on Your doorstep,
Gracious One,
for You to accept,
and make it real;
it all depends on You.

I don’t believe enough;
but I do believe a bit:
as much as a grain of mustard,
yes; I can contribute that much;
and You, O Far Above Us –
You who can do as You please;
for mercy’s sake
and by Your love
make that tiny seed enough,
to sprout
a miracle.
