Ash Wednesday

Charcoal
dust
evokes
memories;
chalk
erasers
filled
white –
carrying
mistakes
cleared
without
a trace;
cleaned
by the redness,
final corrections
borne
by the breeze
away
forever.

  • When I was in elementary school, the chalk erasers were cleaned at the end of the day by slapping them against the side of the (red brick) building.

About inklingscommunity

I am a struggling Christian, committed pacifist, near-obsessive recycler, incurable animal lover, inveterate tree-hugger; a nature mystic, a socialized introvert, an advocate for the vulnerable, an opponent of exploiters.
