The Service Call

I call out
to You,
Creator God;
the world
is in a mess.
Fix it,
fix it,
now!
(Please. Amen.)

An unhappy
consumer
complaining
to the manufacturer;
demanding
repairs.
Immediately.

The planet
and its inhabitants
don’t match
the specifications
in the Owner’s Manual
and so I look
to You.

Scrubbing
my fingerprints
from the casing,
searching
everywhere
for the original
packaging.

Back to You
I throw up
my hands;
it must be a defect
in the Design,
surely not
operator error.

I’m sure
that we need
a replacement System;
erase the hard drive,
install new,
improved
software.

Compassionate One,
what I really want
is a divine repairman;
a heavenly Mr. Fix-it
Who can make
everything
all right.

But that’s not You,
You refuse
to give up on us,
(what faith!)
there will be
no program delete
or celestial
reboot.

We
have been given
everything
we need;
the world
can hum along
perfectly;

it’s that pesky
free will option
that has been enabled;
we’ve made
modifications –
the restoration
is up to us.
