Let the sea roar and all that is in it,
the lands and those who dwell therein
rejoice before the Lord.
~ Psalm 98:7
At the seashore I am changed, overshadowed by a profound awareness that cannot be described; a reality brighter and deeper than what our eyes can see.
I enter into a different level of being, there amid the fog and sand and salt spray, listening to the waves recite their ancient mantra. A peaceful, sacred wisdom dwells within that place: a truth, humming just beneath the surface that has no name, but simply is. Here we can lean back and rest in eternity.
It is comforting to watch as my footprints are rinsed from the sand, knowing they are joining those of the countless others who have walked where I now stand. A vast community of souls who have breathed this sea damp air, and have felt that earth deep throbbing – the very breath of Life.
We are one, here in this marvelous place. In the mists there is no knowing our age, our race, our sex, our troubles or joys or preoccupations; all differences fade to nothing.
The seashore is a taste of heaven.
Is it any wonder that the waves roar with delight?
