A Prayer of Thanksgiving

A Prayer of Thanksgiving

Holy One, we give You thanks
for the many gifts we have received:
for our lives, our health, our hope;
for our friends, our family, our pets;
for our homes, our hearths, our happiness.

We give You thanks
for the memories that warm our hearts,
for the love we have known,
the joys we have shared,
for the challenges we have overcome,
the strengths we have developed.

We give You thanks
for the earthbound angels
who have guided
and encouraged us,
and for the vast array
of characters whose lives
have intersected with our own;
those who came bearing blessings
and even those who brought lessons
that were unpleasant to learn.

We give You thanks
for the radiance of Your love
that fills us with delight
in times of ease,
and sustains us
through the darkest night,
infusing our souls
with peace beyond all telling.

We give You thanks
for this day,
this hour,
this moment,
this life –
for all we are,
and all we have.

Most of all, most Gracious One,
we give You thanks
for You.
