Autumn Afternoon Prayer

The Autumn Afternoon Prayer

We thank You, God,
for sunlit days,
for joy and peace
and rusty leaves,
for love and laughter
and late-blooming roses.

Contentment comes
from basking
in Your presence;
no need for special favors
or desert revelations;
no burning bushes,
mountaintop epiphanies,
or other miracles:
just being.

Feeling Your loving concern
coursing through my soul
I, like a lizard on a rock;
am warm and secure
and filled with life.

About inklingscommunity

I am a struggling Christian, committed pacifist, near-obsessive recycler, incurable animal lover, inveterate tree-hugger; a nature mystic, a socialized introvert, an advocate for the vulnerable, an opponent of exploiters.
