A Mustard Seed?

About that Mustard Seed

Luke 17:5-6

The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”

Jesus replied, “If you had faith the size of a mustard seed,
you could tell this mulberry tree to transplant itself to
the ocean floor, and it would obey you.”

And …
while we’re on the subject:
why a mustard seed?
Would a group
of ex-fishermen
have even known
what it was?

Surely
a grain of sand
is more in keeping
with the marine theme
of that potentially
mobile
tree.

What better example
of the power of faith
than a teensy, tiny
irritant
you cannot ignore
once it is lodged
inside your shoe
or sandal
or swimsuit.
