Waves of Delight

Waves of Delight

The waves run to meet the shore,
tumbling over themselves
in their hurry,
roaring out a greeting;

overturning the winkles,
upending the hermit crabs,
tangling the strands of kelp
and stirring up the starfish.

Then they rush away –
only to return
in an instant;
repeating their joyful reunion
over and over again.
