A Springtime Celebration

A Springtime Celebration

You speak, Holy One,
and the earth laughs;
delight pours forth
greenly
sending forth showers
of white petals –
as gentle as a kiss.

Raindrops
reach into the ground;
the mud remembers,
the seeds stir
and stretch
claiming their places
in the sun.

The waters thunder
down the mountainside
bringing streams to life;
awakening
the drowsing bears
and making the salmon
leap for joy.

Not a rebirth
but a recollection:
the fledglings recite
ancient songs
with newly hatched voices,
the meadows
regain their bright colors;

Leafy branches sway
as bouncing squirrels
discover anew
the bounty
in bird feeders
as their grandparents did
before them.

And the clouds weep
with joy,
nothing of value
has been lost,
the cycle of life
has begun again;
all is well in the world.
