A Vesper Prayer

Phos Hilaron ~ O Gracious Light

O Gracious Light,
bright and glorious image
of the Eternal One,
Jesus Christ, holy and blessed!

As we come to the end of the day,
the sunlight dims
and the sky grows dark;
and now we see
what was hidden from view:
a thousand, million sparkling stars
twinkling in the heavens.

Illuminate our hearts,
loving Savior,
that we may see
the thousand million sparkling blessings
that are scattered across our lives.

Light our way,
Radiant Wisdom’s Child,
so that when our life force fades
and our eyes grow dim,
we will have reached the gate
that leads to our heavenly Home.
